1956-2026

Story

Karin Ann King-Carpenter (née King), born July 13, 1956, passed away peacefully at home on April 28th, 2026, due to complications from Multiple Sclerosis. After courageously fighting the illness for 5 years, Karin was surrounded and cared for by loved ones in her final weeks of life. Karin showed remarkable strength and resilience in her journey with MS, and those who were with her during this time are incredibly proud of how she navigated the illness.

Karin was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend who showed unwavering warmth and generosity to all who knew her. Karin approached life with an open heart, thoughtful nature, and remarkable grace. Above all else, Karin cherished time with her family and friends, and everyone fortunate enough to be in her life was made to feel valued and cared for.

Karin is dearly remembered by her husband of 46 years, Peter; her daughters Mallory and Evan and son-in-law Thom; her siblings and their families, including her sister Jocelyn and brother-in-law John; her many extended relatives in both the King and Carpenter families; and her wonderful friends and community members.

In everything she did, Karin was an exceptionally giving person. Her kindness and compassion could be seen in her many charitable endeavours. In addition to her time as a Social Worker, Karin’s devotion to helping others extended to her volunteer positions at Mission Services of London and the Garden Club of London, where she will be greatly missed.

Karin was a creative, bright individual, bringing joy to her community through her passions for painting, gardening, reading, home design and cooking. She will be remembered for her quick wit, sense of humour, and ability to find the joy in life’s small moments. Karin’s spirit of curiosity and openness will be carried forward by those who remember and celebrate her almost 70 years of life.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the many healthcare providers, professionals, and caregivers who gave guidance and support. Thank-you to all who went above and beyond to ensure Karin’s comfort, including PSWs Juliet and Shakirah, who brought light and humour to each day, and nurse Prakash who was a source of knowledge and comfort. They are also thankful for the incredible patience and devotion given by those friends and family who helped with care, including Jocelyn, John, Laura, Patty, Mary, Sue, Kim, and Tim.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to give are encouraged to make donations to MS Canada in Karin’s honour
